For John Lingard of St. Saviour's Churchyard, Southwark, and Samuel Were of Union St. Oil and mustard manufactory, St. Mary Overy, Southwark, London. This was the second engine at this site. The firm was originally called Lingard & Sadler, and in this guise in 1789 they bought an 8 horse sun & planet engine which appears not to have had its own set of drawings. This old engine was bought by Mills & Heylin, Dyers of The Borough.
