Parallel motion - reverse drawing. This drawing was used as a standard drawing for parallel motions for 4 and 6 horse engines; it includes drawings of all the component parts and various sets of dimensions. It was originally drawn in Jul. 1797, coded DHJ and is described by the Drawings Day Book as "Parallel Motion 4 5 horse." Two originals were made and sent both to the Manufactory and the Foundry. It was re-drawn in Dec. 1799, coded EVY and is described by the Drawings Day Book as "Parallel motion 4 6 horse". The original of this version was given to David Thompson at Soho. It was then used as the basis for the parallel motion drawings for the following engines, each drawing being given a new code: EWV J. & T. Foster 4 horse, 8 Feb. 1800; FBG S. Rendle 4 horse, 9 Apr. 1800; FSI Bryson & Son.
