For Campbell Spiers & Co. Iron works [?], Johnstone. James Lawson's letter of 25 May 1802 orders this engine for Campbell Spiers & Co. and notes that Sword Heywood & Co. were in partnership with them. Engine Order Book No. 4 notes that by Jan. 1803 the engine was being made for Sword Heywood & Co., and it was delivered to them, but it is unclear whether the two concerns occupied the same site. |
