Description16 horse power double-acting sun & planet engine, with 21ΒΌ inch cylinder, 5 foot stroke, parallel motion.

Includes reverse general view of engine showing attachment to pump beams, plans and sections of the engine, boiler, engine and boiler houses, winding gear, pumps, pit framing, external views of the engine house; framing - coloured reverse marked "from Union Co."; gin barrel - reverse vertical and side views; working gear - coloured original and reverse plans and coloured reverse front and side view marked "R. P. Glass Co." and "Nozzles same as Peels"; cistern; connecting cranks, gudgeon etc. for great pump beam; forcing pump; "method of working the pumps", showing beams and rods connecting the engine to the mine pumps; plan of top of pit [?]; boiler steam pipe socket marked "This pipe was altered for Duck & Potts." Almost all the drawings are reverse copies and bear letter codes.

For John Christian, as above. Colliery winding and pumping engine, Elizabeth Pit, Workington. The engine drove a winding barrel and was attached to the pit pumps by means of beams and rods. Usually referred to as "Mr. Christian No. 2."
