Sep., Dec. 1813, Apr., May 1814, Feb. 1815, Apr., Jul., Dec. 1834, Jan. 1835, Apr. 1838. 25 items. 100 horse power double-acting crank engine, with 48 inch cylinder, 8 foot stroke, parallel motion, cast iron beam, cast iron connecting rod. Also gas lighting apparatus.

For Birley & Hornby. Chorlton Mills, Chorlton upon Medlock, Manchester. The engine was initially planned as a 110 horse engine. The firm later became Birley & Kirk, and in 1828 they erected an 80 horse boat engine for land alongside this engine [see Portfolio 5/1040]. The firm later became Birley & Co.
