474. Hicks Bros., Eastington (WT). Apr., Jun. 1822. 4 items. 24 horse power crank engine, with 26 inch cylinder, 5 foot stroke, parallel motion, [cast iron beam, cast iron connecting rod].
Reverse plan and sections of the engine house, plan and sections of the boiler; sketch of injection pipe and distance between boiler and cylinder. All the drawings except the last item bear letter codes.

For Hicks Bros. Churching Mills, Eastington, near Stroud, Gloucestershire. The firm was previously H. Hicks & Sons, and had ordered steam heating apparatus and 10 and 14 horse engines from Boulton Watt & Co. [see Portfolios 5/959, 5/979]. This engine drove gig mills, stocks, and dyeing apparatus. In 1826 they ordered a 30 horse engine [see Portfolio 5/500]. Hicks Bros. were declared bankrupts in 1835.
