484. John Bartholomew & Co., Glasgow (YQ). Apr., Aug. 1823, Feb., Mar. 1830. 9 items. 60 horse power double-acting crank engine, with 38 inch cylinder, 7 foot stroke, parallel motion, cast iron beam, cast iron connecting rod.
Reverse plan and sections of the engine and boiler houses and 3 boilers, plan of the tunnel; hot water pump - coloured reverse drawings; sections through part of the engine house - reverse drawings (with sketches for the Gourock Rope Work Co.'s 60 horse engine of 1837 on the back); sketch plan of the premises. All the drawings bear letter codes. Also new working gear, 1830: levers, slide valves etc. sent to Soho Foundry 15 Feb. 1830; new slide valves and back plates - coloured original drawing marked "Improvement of their 60 horse engine".

For John Bartholomew & Co. Clyde and Cumberland St., Glasgow. The engine was actually made in 1817, but not appropriated to Batholomew & Co. until 1823.
