492. Joseph Clarke & Sons, Manchester (TO). Nov. 1824, Feb. 1828, May 1831, May 1833, Sep. 1836. 10 items. 80 horse power crank engine, with 44 inch cylinder, 7 foot stroke, parallel motion, [cast iron beam, cast iron connecting rod].
Reverse plan and sections of the engine and boiler houses and boilers, plan of the tunnel (the cross-section of the engine house has a drawing of a jackhead pump dated 4 May 1831 on the back); plan of the engine and boiler houses and section showing part of mill, marked "Messrs. Josh. Clarke & Sons No. 3"; plans of the first floor, cylinder packing floor and beam floor of the engine house. The reverse drawings bear letter codes. Also plan and section of 4th boiler, Feb. 1828; sections of new boiler house and 140 ft. chimney, May 1833; fly wheel, Sep. 1836 (also includes dimensions for fly wheels for 2 engines for Clarke Maze & Co.). All the drawings except those for the 4th boiler bear letter codes.
