40 horse power double-acting crank engine, with 32½ inch cylinder, 6 foot stroke, parallel motion, [cast iron beam, cast iron connecting rod].

Reverse plan of the engine and boiler houses and chimney with connection to mill and grindstones pencilled in, sections of the engine house and boiler; rough sketch plan of the engine, boiler and chimney, and elevations of feed apparatus [?]; sections of engine house showing stairs, dated 19 Jan. 1831. The reverse drawings bear letter codes.
Also the following internal notes, sketches etc.: list of materials fitted, 10 Jan. 1831; letter from William Murdock Jr. to William Bennett dated 19 Jan. 1831, with sketch of feed apparatus; note from Frederick Bennett to William Bennett dated Soho Foundry, 19 Feb. 1831 about the boiler; rough sketch of hot water pump, 19 Apr. 1831; note and sketch about the spring beams by William Middleton; rough sketch of emptying pipe; 7 other miscellaneous small rough sketches of other components, pipes etc.
