515. The Union Plate Glass Co., St. Helens (MX). Nov. 1836, Mar.-Sep., Dec. 1837, Jan. 1838, Aug. 1851. 28 items. 100 horse power double-acting crank engine, with 48 inch cylinder, 8 foot stroke, parallel motion, cast iron beam, cast iron connecting rod.
Plan and cross-section of the engine and boiler houses (original and reverse copy), plan of the tunnel and 1st course of stonework and details of subsequent courses of stonework - these drawings were sent by Wren & Bennett, 18 May 1837, and have been given letter codes; plan of the engine and boiler houses showing polishing room - incomplete original and reverse copy, sections of the engine and boiler houses and boilers, cross-section of the engine house showing hot and cold water pumps - original and reverse copy; plummer block - press copy sketch (not coded); fly wheel - original and reverse copy, and small note on the weight; air pump and condenser - partially coloured original and reverse copy; beam and gudgeons; connecting rod, crank, shaft and plummer block - partially coloured original and reverse copy; parallel motion - partially coloured original and reverse copy.
