Includes coloured original and reverse general view of the engine, coloured original and reverse plans and sections of engine, boiler and engine house showing outside of boiler, connection to mill, boiler seating and fireplace; reverse plans and sections of the engine house and part of mill house; parallel motion - coloured original; working gear - coloured original (originally intended for Paty's engine); coloured section of the millwork marked "Mr. Chas. Gardiner's oil mill - Mr. Thompson's sketch". All the drawings except the last item bear letter codes.

For Charles Gardiner. Oil mill, Spalding, Lincolnshire. The business had become Gardiner & Ayre by Apr. 1792. According to the Catalogue of Old Engines the engine was sold to John Taylor & Co. of Liverpool in 1795.
