563. John Weston, Bog Mine, Shropshire. Jul.-Oct. 1789. 27 items. Single-acting engine, with 45 inch cylinder, 8 foot stroke, chain connection, unequal beam.
Reverse general view of the engine, reverse plans and sections of the engine and boiler (some of the drawings have an altered boiler design stuck on); reverse plans and sections of the engine house; piston rod cap and cross bar, chain links, adjusting screws, nozzles, martingales, condenser cross bar, beam strap ends, injection cock, working gear components - arms, levers, hands etc., windbore and clack piece etc. for forcing lift, plan and sections of the "little boiler", pump rod, plummer block, stays etc., injection gear components - triggers, arms etc. - all reverse drawings; working gear - partially coloured unmarked front and side views; unmarked plan of the boiler; sketch plan showing new and old engine houses and pits. Almost all the reverse drawings bear letter codes.

For John Weston. Bog Mine, Shropshire. This was the second engine at the Bog Mine; the first was an engine with a 30 inch cylinder and 8 foot stroke, erected by John Scott in 1777-1778 [See Portfolio 5/628]. This engine was sold to Alexander Donald and removed to Nuneaton in 1797.
