569. Charles Brandling, Middleton Colliery. Oct., Nov. 1793. 18 items. Single-acting engine, with 60 inch cylinder, 8½ foot stroke, chain connection, unequal beam.
Reverse general view of the engine, plans and sections of the engine and boiler; gudgeons and plummer blocks, chain links and adjusting screws, piston rod cap and cross bars - reverse drawings marked "a copy made 7 Jun. 1798 for the Trustees of W. H. Lambton"; beam - reverse drawing showing 2 beams, one with chain connection and one with parallel motion; working gear - partially coloured reverse front and side views dated Oct. 1793, reverse front and side views dated Nov. 1793; reverse plan of the injection gear showing air pump, condenser and cylinder; sockets for the king posts, martingales, arch plates for beam ends, air pump cross bar, catch pins, beam straps, manhole pipe, plan of the beam - reverse drawings; plan and elevation of the engine house and sections of the new boilers - these drawings were sent to Boulton & Watt. All the drawings except the last 2 items bear letter codes.

For Charles Brandling of Gosforth House. Middleton Colliery, Rothwell, Yorkshire. The agreement for the engine was made between Boulton & Watt and Brandling's agent, Richard Humble, of Middleton.
