Reverse plan and general section of the engine, boiler and pumps, longitudinal section of the boiler, front view of the engine (partially coloured); parallel motion - coloured reverse drawing; working gear - partially coloured front and side views; sketch of plummer blocks. All the drawings except the last item bear letter codes.
Also the following uncoded and undated drawings, sent from Holland: section and plan of the engine, boiler, pumps, engine house and pump pit; coloured sections of the engine and pumps and plan of the pumps, showing pumps of 28 and 20 inches diameter (less detailed than the previous drawing); coloured section of the engine, boiler, pumps, engine house and pump pit titled "Overlangsche Doorsnede van het Stoom Machine Gebour aan het Nieuwe Diep" (these sections of the engine were presumably initial designs and proposals, as they bear slightly different dimensions to the reverse drawings made at Soho); main beam and cylinder, plan of the air pump and condenser, sections and plan of the cylinder bottom ("Onder end"), elevations of the cylinder and air pump and condenser etc. marked "brought by James Webster", wheels for guiding pump rod chains marked "brought by James Webster", sections of pump and clack [?] marked "brought by James Webster", plan of the beams, plan and sections of the boiler - many of these drawings feature Dutch captions and Dutch and English scales.

For J. Blanken. Drainage engine, Nieuwe Diep (New Deep), Holland. The engine is referred to on some of the drawings as "Blanken No. 2", as Blanken had already bought an engine for the Hellevoetsluys in 1800-1801 [see Portfolio 5/583]. The engine worked a total of nine pumps, through an unusual arrangement of half-beams mounted on the opposite wall of the pump pit to the engine. These beams were connected to the beam of the engine by a system of rods and chains guided by wheels mounted over the pump pit.
