Single-acting engine, with 54 inch cylinder, 8 foot stroke, parallel motion, cast iron beam.

Reverse plan of the engine and boiler houses and pump, longitudinal section of the engine house and pump, sections of the engine house and boiler house and boiler, plan of the tunnel; working gear - partially coloured reverse front and side views marked "54, 56"; sections and plans of pump and its components - original and partially coloured reverse drawings; side view and plan of the bottom of the pump well - reverse drawings; sketches of steam and suction pipe (with note about Kent Water Works pump on the same sheet), sketch of balance weights, section of pump with 3 small notes about components stuck to it - these small sketches were sent to the Foundry; safety valve marked "by Murdock"; sketch plan of the engine house showing situation of "old engine" and "new engine of Freemantle's", 4 Dec. 1809. The reverse drawings bear letter codes.
Also sketches and notes on the engine, improvements by Peter Spargo of Cornwall and new cylinder sent to Soho by James Dangerfield, 26 May 1838.
