Single-acting engine, with 50 inch cylinder, 8 foot stroke, chain connection.

Coloured original and reverse general view of the engine and boiler, ground plan of the engine and boilers and pump pit, plan of the cylinder and boiler tops, front view of the engine.
Numbered original drawings with reverse copies: 3 - ground plan of the engine house and boilers, 4 - plan above the cylinder beams, 5 - plan above the spring beams, 6 - general section of the engine house, 7 - front view of the lever wall, 8 - elevation of the back wall showing the chimney, 10 - arch head plates for beam ends, catch pins, air pump chain adjusting screw, 11 - piston rod cap and cross bar, chain links, adjusting screw, 12 - beam strap ends, glands, king post stay ends etc., 13 - martingales. The drawings were later re-numbered (the later numbers are pencilled on) and the following was added to the set: plan and sections of the pit frame and capstan.
Also condenser cross bar, air pump rod cap - original and reverse drawings; working gear - partially coloured reverse front and side views; plummer block [?] - unmarked drawing.
Original and press copy plan showing the engine and boilers, horse gin, capstans and pump pit marked "Mr. Watt's plan, 10 Jan. 1791"; original and press copy section showing engine house and canal and water levels marked "Mr. Watt's section 10 Jan. 1791"; large plan of the proposed site of the engine showing canal, Thames, windmill pump pits, proposed reservoirs etc., with the engine house pencilled in. All the drawings except the last 4 items bear letter codes.
Also plan of the canal and surrounding area marked "Thames Head and Ewen Springs, vide Report of 4 Sep. 1810, copied from a plan brought by Mr. Black, 15 Jul. 1811, showing this engine and proposed site of new engine.
