For the Bombay Mint. The 10 horse engine, which was actually made in 1816, drove general machinery and triturating apparatus, the 24 horse engine powered the cutting out machinery and powered the vacuum pumps for operating the coining presses, and the 40 horse engine drove the rolling mill. The Bombay Mint used some of the machinery from the old Soho Mint [see Portfolio 5/714]. The mint was expanded in 1860 and again in 1863.
