Portfolio 5/714 contains the drawings for the various Soho Mints, from Matthew Boulton's original mint of 1788 to James Watt & Co.'s mint at Soho Foundry of the 1860s. These drawings were originally in separate books, but Henry Hazleton amalgamated them all when he arranged the drawings in the 1890s. This led to subsequent mis-identification of many of the drawings, and misunderstandings of the history of the various mints. The contents of the portfolio have now been subdivided to reflect the original separate 'Books' of drawings, as follows:
