Original Portfolio or 'Book' No. 662. Catalogue of Old Engines p. 220, 222.

These two sheets of drawings were used for four separate engines. Henry Hazleton assigned a portfolio number to each engine despite the fact that there were no individual drawings for the engines. The engines were as follows:

Thomas Daniel & Sons, Berbice (ZAI) [Hazleton's Portfolio 796].
For Berbice. Sugar plantation engine ordered by Thomas Daniel & Sons of Bristol. According to Engine Order Book No. 8, the engine ordered by Daniel & sons was originally intended for Demerara. They were also originally intended to have engine ZAH, but this was sent to Bruce & Moens for Surinam. The original drawings for this engine were made in Sep. 1813.

Robert Bruce & A. Moens, Surinam (ZAH) [Hazleton's Portfolio 797]
For Surinam. Sugar plantation [?] engine ordered by Bruce & Moens of Bristol. According to Engine Order Book No. 8, Bruce & Moens were originally intended to have engine ZAI, but this was sent to Thomas Daniel & Sons. The original drawings for this engine were made in Sep. 1813.

Vaughan & Longmore, Jamaica (ZAG) [Hazleton's Portfolio 798]
For John Ashley, Manningfield Estate, Jamaica. Sugar plantation engine ordered by Vaughan & Longmore of Bristol. According to the Catalogue of Old Engines, the engine was actually erected on the Ashley Hall Estate. The original drawings for this engine were made in Sep. 1813.

Thomas King, Essequibo [?] (ZAE) [Hazleton's Portfolio 799? This engine was omitted from the Catalogue of Old Engines.]
For Essequibo. Sugar planation [?] engine ordered by Thomas King of 4 Winchester St., London (later New Court, Old Broad St., London). Engine Order Book No. 8 does not record where the engine was erected. The original drawings for this engine were made in Sep. 1813.

Alexander Henry, Demerara (ZAF) [Hazleton's Portfolio 800]
For Mr. McNeill of Glasgow, for Demerara. Sugar plantation engine ordered by Alexander Henry of Finsbury Square, London. The original drawings for this engine were made in Dec. 1813.

John & Robert Gladstone, Essequibo (ZAN) [Hazleton's Portfolio 801]
For Charles Dickson, Sans Souci Estate, Wakenham Island, Essequibo. Sugar plantation engine ordered by John & Robert Gladstone of Liverpool. The original drawings for this engine were made in Feb. 1814.

Moreton & Foster, Demerara (ZAX) [Hazleton's Portfolio 802]
For Mr. Fraser, Demerara. Sugar plantation engine ordered by Moreton & Foster. According to Engine Order Book No. 8, this engine was originally allocated to John & Robert Gladstone. The original drawings for this engine were made in Aug. 1814.
