Two 25 horse power independent crank engines, with 3½ foot strokes, parallel motions, [cast iron beams, cast iron connecting rods].

Partially coloured reverse plans of the engine platform and 3 courses of stonework, plan of the engines, transverse sections of the engine platform, longitudinal sections of the platform and engines; sketch of governor wheels, cross spindle and supports, force pumps and air vessel, suction and injection pipes - reverse drawings; steam pipes, waste water pipes, suction pipes for the injection and force pumps, injection pipes - original and reverse drawings; spur fly wheel, clutch - coloured original and coloured reverse drawings; clutch - coloured uncoded drawing. All these drawings except the last item bear letter codes.
Also plans of the engine house - 2 drawings on tracing paper (one of the plans shows the location of old 30 horse engine); sections and plans of the tunnel and shafts etc. - 3 drawings on tracing paper; longitudinal and cross-section of the mill (on tracing paper); 2 sheets of pencil notes, calculations etc.

For James Kennedy & Co. Cotton [?] mill, Manchester. This mill was built alongside one built by James Kennedy which was powered by a 30 horse power engine installed in 1823 [see Portfolio 5/481].
