955a. Evan Baillie Sons & Co., Richmond Plantation, Demerara (HM). Jun., Jul. 1831. 2 items. 10 horse power independent crank engine, with 19¾ inch cylinder, 2½ foot stroke, parallel motion, cast iron beam, cast iron connecting rod. Also high pressure boiler.
Eccentric and guide for the 18 inch air pump; coloured reverse plan and sections of high pressure boiler, marked "made by Robinson, sent with Mr. Bean's 10 horse condensing engine HM…". The drawing was made in the London office and sent to Soho.
For Charles Bean, Richmond Plantation, Demerara, ordered by Evan Baillie Sons & Co. Evan Baillie Sons & Co. ordered a 10 horse power engine and were allocated an engine coded HM, which had been made for the Mexico City Mint. According to Engine Order Book No. 9 they ordered the high pressure boiler from Oakes & Son of London. The engine worked exhausting pumps and other machinery.
