For W. & P. Playne & Co. Textile mill, Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire. The firm had earlier bought a 14 horse crank engine [see Portfolio 5/454], in 1823 they bought a 10 horse independent engine [see Portfolio 5/987], and in 1827 they bought a 6 horse independent engine [see Portfolio 5/1350e].
