For H. Hicks & Sons. New Mill [?], Eastington, near Stroud, Gloucestershire. The firm had previously bought a 10 horse independent engine in 1818 [see Portfolio 5/959]. This engine may have been for the mill known as "New Mill", for two undated drawings made for the steam heating of that mill show an independent engine. The firm later became Hicks Bros., and bought other Boulton Watt & Co. engines [see Portfolios 5/474, 5/500]. Hicks Bros. were declared bankrupts in 1835.
