984. James Kennedy, Manchester (GS & IA). Feb. 1823, Mar., Apr. 1827, Jun. 1829, Oct. 1837. 6 items. Two 10 horse power independent crank engines, with 19¾ inch cylinders, 2½ foot strokes, parallel motions, cast iron beams, cast iron connecting rods.

For James Kennedy. Cotton [?] mill, Manchester. The second engine (IA) was installed in 1829. The concern later became James Kennedy & Co. An 80 horse boat engine was erected near these two engines in 1836 [see Portfolio 5/1069].
