Two sets of two 35 horse power direct engines, with 34 inch cylinders, 22 foot strokes.

For the General Iron Screw Collier Co. The Black Prince and Firefly were built by Thomas Vernon & Son of Liverpool. Note that Boulton Watt & Co. had previously supplied engines for a Dover packet boat also called Firefly [see Portfolio 6/31a)].
