| Description | There are two ships' account books. One is for the ships Crawford and James & John, (1750-1753). On the front cover of this volume, is the heading: 'Ship Crawford 1749 & 1750 And w[i]t[h] Capt[ai]n Wylie 1751 & Smith and Ship James & John Capt[ai]ns Wylie, Morison & Thomson'. There are accounts for voyages of the ship 'Crawford' from Boston to Barbados and home (January 1750); to Carolina, Lisbon and home (September 1751); to Carolina, Lisbon and home (May 1752); to Burdiour and home (June 1753). The costs of the 'Crawford's first voyage were divided into quarters, one for each of the partners, Robert Finlay, David Cation, James Watt, and Walter Maxwell. There are also accounts for the ship 'James & John' for a voyage to the Canaries, Carolina, Lisbon and home (July 1750); a voyage to France, London, Ireland, and home (August 1751); a voyage to London and home (December 1751); and to Liverpool and Danzig (April 1752). The last account for this ship is for sundries sold from the cargo of the 'James & John' in Danzig, October 1752. The other account book is for the ship 'Betty '(1750 - 1751). This includes accounts for a voyage to France and back, March - August 1750. There is one loose paper, which is an agreement betwen the master and sailors about wages.[ MS 3219/3/22].
