| Description | Bundle of 105 letters to James Watt. Enclosed in a portfolio of card and marbled paper, on the spine of which is written ' 1-105 Miscellan.s 1806, 1807’. One of the letters originally in the bundle [now no.73. Dr William Taylor to James Watt] had been removed for the exhibition to commemorate the bicentenary of the Lunar Society in 1966, and by 1995 this had the reference JWP C1/ 6 [old no. 38]. The arrangement of the letters within the bundle was neither strictly chronological or alphabetical. The letters actually cover the years 1804 to 1807. The letters have been sorted as one alphabetical bundle, and letters for each individual arranged chronologically. There is a conspectus of old and new numbers at the end of the list. The correspondent’s name and the date has been written on the letter by James Watt, and most have been summarised by Watt. Any summary in square brackets has been provided by the cataloguer.
