| Description | Bundle of 124 letters to James Watt.
Enclosed in a portfolio of card and marbled paper, on the spine of which is written
‘ Miscels: 1808-9 1 to 121 ’.
The arrangement of the letters within the bundle was neither strictly chronological nor alphabetical. The dates covered are, in fact, 1807 to 1810.
There was one unnumbered letter [16] and there are 5 unnumbered enclosures [with letters 26, 40, 53, 61 and 119]. Three of the letters are actually addressed to James Watt jr. [40, 52, 82].
The letters have now been sorted as one alphabetical bundle, and letters for each individual arranged chronologically.

The correspondent’s name and the date has been written on the letter by James Watt, and most have been given a docket which appears in italics in the list below.
