Most of the letters are written in French.
The top letter in the bundle (old no. 1) had '1784 to 1790' written on it in pencil
The letters were arranged in neither chronological nor alphabetical order . They have now been placed in chronological order, and renumbered.
Dockets have been written by James Watt with the name of the correspondent and the date, but none have summaries.
