| Description | Bundle of eight letters to James Watt, from Thomas Henry, 1788- 1790 and one unnumbered paper, in two parts. There is a bundle label, written in red ink, as follows: ' Letters from Mr Thomas Henry, Manchester, to Mr Watt, Birmingham. 1788-1790. No. 1 to 8.' The letters are numbered in red ink. The letter numbered 1 (old no.) has '1788 to 1790' written on it in pencil. The letters were arranged in approximately chronological order with the most recent letter first. They have now been placed in chronological order beginning with the earliest, and renumbered. There is a conspectus of old and new numbers at the end of the list. The letters have a docket by James Watt with the name of the correspondent and the date, and some have a very brief summary. Any summary in square brackets has been provided by the cataloguer. |
