| Description | A bundle of 24 letters from James Watt to Ann Watt, née MacGregor, his second wife, written from Cornwall, Birmingham and London in 1780. Ann Watt spent some of this year with her children in Glasgow, staying with her father, before returning to Birmingham. This may have been an original bundle but there is no surviving bundle label. The letters were not numbered. They had been arranged in chronological order, and this arrangement has been retained. The docket by Ann Watt records the correspondent, ‘Mr Watt’, and the date of the letter. A brief summary of the letters’ contents has been given in square brackets by the cataloguer. |
