| Level | Item |
| Date | 1804 - 1806 |
| Description | There is an original bundle wrapper on which is written in red ink, ‘Press Copies of Letters Written by James Watt Junr. 1804 - 1806. No. 1 to 191.’ The press copy sheets were individually numbered in red ink and they were arranged in mainly chronological order beginning with the most recent, though there are exceptions. The original order has been retained. They have been sorted into 79 letters. The legibility of the copying varies considerably. Occasionally the letters seem to be incomplete. Many of the letters are concerned with the death of Gregory Watt and its aftermath.
