The press copy sheets are individually numbered and they were arranged in mainly chronological order, though there are exceptions. The original arrangement has been retained. They have been sorted into 93 letters. The legibility of the copying varies considerably. Occasionally the letters seem to be incomplete. |

| Related Material | The Watt and Muirhead papers were microfilmed by Adam Matthews publications as part of 'Industrial Revolution: A Documentary History'. 'Muirhead I' was published in Series One: parts 6 and 8, in 1997. The 'James Watt papers' were published in 'Series Three', 1999.
