| Description | This is a bundle of letters mostly to James Watt, from James Watt jr., Gregory Watt, Dr Beddoes, Mr Tuffen and Mr Maclure. This bundle was previously stored in Tin Box 6 and was described on the 1873 Inventory as ‘Letters from James Watt and Gregory Watt, Dr. Beddoes, and Mr Maclure, 1802, No.’d 1 to 51.’
There is a bundle wrapper, written in red ink, as follows: ‘ Letters from James and Gregory Watt Dr Beddoes and Mr Maclure. 1802. No. 1 to 51’ . The letters are numbered in red ink.
Letters from Gregory, 9 Jan.1802- 29 Nov.1802, were old nos. 1 - 3, 7 - 13, 1 7- 18, 38 - 50; letters from James Watt jr., 19 Jan.1802 - 15 Nov. 1802, were old nos. 19 - 37; letters from Beddoes, Aug. 1802, were old nos. 4 - 5; letters from Mr Tuffen, Aug. 1802, were old nos. 14 - 16; letter from Maclure was old no. 51; a draft letter from James Watt to Gregory was old no. 6. |
