| Description | 'Sir, I have just been sent for by Mrs Salt & am very much shocked at the state of distress & Agitation I found her in. Her Servant met Mr Moland & Miss Fisher on the road and they sent word they woud be with her at 2 oclock to dinner – as Mr Moland is engaged tomorrow. She is really at present incapable of informing him rationally her sentiments & from indisposition myself I am equally sor or knowing what can be said as I look upon the Union as inevitable & She seems firm in her Objections to it. I cannot but feel distressed for her & give my Opinions if you coud have the goodness to come over it [would be] as great an Exercise of benevolence as it is possible. Such is her situation at the moment. She expects they return to Springfield tonight.' |
