DescriptionThe Gentleman's, Tradesman's and Farmer's Complete Pocket Companion and Annual Accompt-Book' (The diary is a printed edition and contains dated personal entries and accounts. Enclosed in the front cover of the diary is a slip dated 1806 and headed 'Appointments.' Enclosed in the back cover are 3 receipts and a letter. The letter is from a Mrs Lloyd to Matthew Boulton, dated at Sarehole, 26 Aug. 1806. The receipts are for various expenses. One of the receipts has a note on the back that reads; ' Suppose I buy land, value £16,000 & I borrow £8,000 of the money at 5 per cent = £400 a year & suppose the land pays 3 per cent in rent = £480. Out of which the owner pays £48 a year property tax there will remain £32 a year clear profit to the landlord + £40 a year to be refunded out of the Interest = £72.')
