| Description | (This item is a large notebook with a card cover. The entire notebook is written in an unknown hand and is divided into two sections. The first is half of the notebook is a transcript of a report on the state of the Mint, sent by Mr Samuel Garbett and Mr Francis Garbett to 'The Right Honourable The Lords Commissioners of his Majesty’s Treasury.' and dated at London, November 23rd 1782. The second section of the notebook is entitled; 'Appendix. Emoluments to the Officers of the Mint.' It contains detailed wage structures of individuals that worked for the Mint. Also annexed in the second section of the notebook are copies of a series of letters between Mr Samuel Garbett and Mr Stanesby Alchorne. The first is from Garbett to Alchorne, dated 25 Oct. 1782. The second is from Alchorne to Garbett, dated at 'Tower', 30 Oct. 1782. The final letter is from Alchorne to Garbett, dated 9 Nov. 1782 and directed to the 'Mint Office.') |
