The item is a journal of Matthew Boulton’s trip to Ireland beginning 22nd August 1783. There are dated personal entries describing his trip and the passage through Wales to the coast. 'A most beautiful ride through a country of hills, dales and fertile lawns.' There are also pages of lists showing the distances between locations in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. The notebook gives a detailed description of Boulton’s journey in Ireland and the business he did whilst there.) |
