TitleLetter. Jacob Tonson [London] to Matthew Boulton (Birmingham).
LevelItem
Date7 November 1764
Description"I received the favour of yours of the third instant advising me that you had drawn a bill on me for £1000 payable to Mr John Motteux or order seven days after sight which I have accepted and you may depend on it's being very punctually paid and which is in part of the sum of 3500 which I told Mr Baskerville I agreed to lend you on mortgage at 4% I likewise told him I consented that Mr Ingram should draw the writings as you said it would be a great convenience to you and Mrs Boulton. It will be the same thing to me whether the affair is finished in one month or two, only you will please to remember to send me up the rough draught of the conveyance that I may have it properly inspected which I will take care shall be done with all possible dispatch.

Although we are entire strangers to each other yet from the character I have had of you from our friend Mr Baskerville I'm convinced I run no risk in placing A thorough confidence in you and in all our transactions you will find that I shall behave with the greatest honour and punctuality."
