Description Dear Sir,
I wrote you a few lines about an hour since. Your letter hath been seen by Lord Shelburne. Alarms of this kind are so customary that troops are never ordered to march without more certainty of the necessity than appears by your letter. If there should evidently be any real danger I am authorised to tell you troops will be instantly ordered to assist the magistrates to preserve publick order. If you find it necessary, you will send express to my son at Mr. Saxby's, Johns Street, Berkley Square.
You will remember before I went last to Scotland I began an Association, and that more than 100 had engaged before I left Birmingham to stand by one another and the magistrates, which is the true plan to proceed upon for our honour, or we shall frequently be frighted when troops are not at hand.
I am, dear sir, most sincerely yours,
S. Garbett
