Description(In French.)
[I am obliged to you for recommending me to Mr. Boulton: I shall indeed be pleased should Mr. Boulton confide his son to my care. His board will be the same as for your son, viz. £40 including instruction in German, geography, arithmetic, and music. Startin has learnt to play the clavecin tolerably well and takes drawing lessons. I am very pleased with him. Our Duke, the Duke of Saxe Weimar and Eisenach, invitest us to his court: Startin conversed with him, and the Duke of Saxe Meiningen and the old Duke of Brunswick, without embarrassment, and all three were charmed with him; he speaks German like a native. The Baron de Boyneburgh sends his compliments to you: we are impatient to see the [Argand] lamp you are sending.]
