Description(In French.)
[I am afraid my friend Mr. Watt junior has given you too high an opinion of my merits. I have already told Mr. Watt that I shall be proud to have had in my charge the sons of two men who are so famous and respected in their own country and elsewhere. I am sorry that you are unable to go to France and bring your son here. I should be delighted to make personal acquaintance with you and Mr. Watt. Young Startin sends his compliments. The son of Mr. Marindin of Birmingham has been three weeks in my home. I have just heard that Mr. Engelbach, merchant, of Francfort, now at Versailles, is returning in about a month’s time. This is perhaps a favourable opportunity for your son.]
