DescriptionDear Father,
It grieved me much to find from your letter to Mr. Reinhard that my endeavours to conceal my indisposition from you have been fruitless; however, I trust my last letter will relieve you in some measure from your anxiety.
I have now the satisfaction to inform you that the fiever has quite left me, and that I daily recover fresh strength. Mr. Reinhard read me his answer to your letter, and I perfectly coincide with him respecting the inutility of your sending any person to return with me; I have an excellent servant, and hope further to meet with a good travelling companion at Franckfort.
I again beg you not to give yourself the least uneasiness on my account. I look upon this slight indisposition as a goodness of Providence; it has purged my blood of a great quantity of matter which has incommoded ever since the unskilful care of my fiever at Paris.
We celebrated yesterday my birth-day. To be sure, there were no cannons fired nor fire works displayed, but the good humour and chearfulness of this little circle made amends for these deficiencies. Every person in Mr. Reinhard’s familly did every thing in their power to render me the memory of this day as agreeable as possible.
With the most ardent wishes for yours and my sister’s health, I remain your most dutiful son,
Mattw. R. Boulton
