DescriptionSoho, October 31, 1799.
Sir,
I wrote you yesterday evening promising you the papers by the parcel of this evening, which I expected would have gone with a parcel of coins for the Treasury gentlemen, but Mr. Cheshire could not get them ready; of course, my letter did not go.
I beg leave to refer thereto, and yet think it will be best to drop all further proceedings unless in case of actual necessity. Mrs. Matthews recommended your leaving them to her management, and I think it best to rest there, particularly after their letter of the 28th current, which you have herewith. I have also sent you all their letters, which please preserve, that they may be put away with other Copper letters.
I herewith send you a statement of the transactions of copper and payments thereon, by which you will perceive they are over remitted for 10 tons,
but that they will replace it by 20T. 6C. 0q. 11lb.
consequently Roe & Co. have yet to deliver 24T. 16C. 0q. 21lb.
but you will only have to pay for 10T. 6C. 0q. 11lb.
and that the whole quantity bought will be 109T. 8C. 3q. 18lb.
viz.
Roe & Co. 46. 9. 2. 2 Weighed off.
Ditto. 4. 10. 0. 10 To weigh.
Ditto. 20. 6. -. 11 Ditto.
English Copper Co. 14. 16. -. 3 Shipped, October 25.
Middle Bank 23. 6. 3. 26. Delivered, October 16. Of this I have no
other account but Fox's letter of the 28th,
but Morgan of Newnham has instructions to forward it to Stourport on receipt thereof.
109. 8. 3. 18
Paid for 99. 2. 3. 7
10. 6. 0. 10
Hoping you will speedily get Mr. Sage or some other person to release the present stock of coin, I remain, very respectfully, sir,
Your obliged humble servant,
Wm. D. Brown
