DescriptionSir,
I have the pleasure to hand your a wax model of his Majesty, which, by the assistance of a friend, I have at length procur'd. The price I'm almost afraid to mention, but as I had bespoke it, and thro' the assistance of two or three friends, who took much pains to procure it, I cou'd not say a word against it: I paid three guineas-against the enormity of which there is only a consolation in having perhaps one of the most perfect likenesses ever produc'd; it was took on the Terrace last summer, and my friend (who sees his Majesty daily) has given the artist such hints to improve on his own original model that this is look'd on as a compleat masterpiece, of which this is only the second ever done, and the other still in the possession of the artist. If I have done right in this, and the model proves what you have been in search of, I shall be exceeding happy, and am, on all occasions, sir, your very obedient servant,
Rd. Chippindall
PS. The chandelier with glass ornament, from Parker's, will be pack'd and sent off for Soho tomorrow; it is the best I have seen by far, and I think you will like it.
