DescriptionSir,
I send herewith the several patterns of latchets and buckles, &c. which you left here, amongst which you will find two patterns of knee buckles, one being the patent of Stedman and the other that of Jackson, which you desired me to purchase.
I am much amaz'd to find you have not received the whale-bone; please to enquire in the Latchet Department and it must be found. On the 28th May you saw it here, and it was the next day cut in pieces of about 3 feet long and made into one parcell and sent per the usual coach, address'd to Boulton & Smiths; this was either on the 29th or 30 May. I suppose this must be what you mean by square pieces of whale bone, as you may perhaps remember our concluding it better to send it in long pieces and let it be cut in lengths at the Manufactory. If you want more than this and will be so kind as inform me, it shall be immediately procured.
I am very sorry for your misfortune; I hope its bad consequences will be of very short duration, and am, sir, your very humble servant,
R. Chippindall
