[We expect Mr. Eginton tonight: his wife continues very languishing. I have lately discovered in conversation with Mrs. Swellengrebel that Mr. Sinkelaar has only been twice married, viz. first to the sister of Mr. van Osterhout, who died leaving no issue, and he intended never to re-marry taking an Indian woman—who had been for some years in keeping by a Sergeant in the Dutch Service; from this connection came Mrs. Swellengrebel and her brother who is still in India: this woman dying he took another woman of the same breed by whom he had several children, and afterwards thought proper to marry. I wish you would ask Mr. Lushington what power or pretence Mr. Sinkelaar can have on the Effects or moneys of Mrs.Swellengrebel, she being illegitimate, and whether he can inherit her Effects should she die intestate.] |
