The Buttons for the King’s inspection will be finished tonight. I subjoin for your perusal a copy of my answer to Mr. Forrest on the subject of Mrs. Swellengrebel’s affairs. [To Mr. Forrest, attorney at law in York Buildings, Chancery Lane, 22 Jan. 1772.] "I have your letter of the 10 inst. wherein you say you are directed by Mrs. Hobster my brother’s executrix to inform me ‘that she has waited with great patience to see the event of a Cause amicably instituted in Doctors Commons by Mrs. Jacoba Swellengrebel, widow of Sergius Swellengrebel Esq., against me in order to establish a paper script of pretended Will of said S. Swellengrebel and thereby prevent her and the other relations coming in with their claims under the Act of distribution of Intestate Estates. That it seems my intention is to let the Cause lye dormant’. In answer thereto I have only to inform you that the original Will tho’ long since applyd for is not yet arrived from Macasse and that I am advised that the Suit cannot be proceeded in till the Will does arrive.]
