[I had yesterday a letter from Mr. Lushington to inform me that a Citation was writing out at the request of Mrs. Hobster relating to my administration of Mr. Swellengrebel’s affairs. I have given it to Mr. Mainwaring who promises to answer Mr. Lushington this post, and he thinks it necessary for you to wait on him personally on this subject. I wish I had never declared that the late Mr. Swellengrebel was the destroyer of the paper writing in question as I sincerely believe that had the affair come to a crisis in the manner we first wished and proposed, I should not have withstood owning at a trial the very truth of having myself torn the writing to pieces, but with his consent.
