Dear Friend,
Since dinner Mr. Carles sends me a letter he had received this day from Lord Stafford, acquainting him that in conformity to his wishes (by Mr. Legge) his son would be appointed Clerk to the Privy Seal, but that it was necessary he or his son should be in London immediately and therefore Mr. Carles will be in London on Monday.
You will not be surprised that Mr. Legge did not answer Mr. Carles's last letter.
The Marquis of Stafford, being one of the cabinet and a firm friend to the manufacturers of this neighbourhood, should certainly be applied to on the Russia business.
